When you arrive at an insured's home to scope the loss, try NOT to park in their driveway. Always opt to pull in front of the dwelling either one house back or one house forward. The reason for this is that in case your car or truck leaks oil or transmission fluid, you won't have left that stain behind on their driveway. Insureds get pretty upset about things like that and they will call their agent or the office to complain about it.
There have been instances where the carrier has had to reimburse the insured for the cleaning of the driveway due to the stains caused by an adjuster's vehicle, and you guessed it...THEY are not happy with you as a result.
Another reason not to pull in the driveway is because inevitably someone in the household, wife, son, daughter etc. will have to leave to go to work or school and you are blocking them in, which means you will have to stop your scope and move the vehicle.
And another very good reason for not pulling directly in front of the dwelling is because you will be required to take a risk photo (front view of the dwelling) and you will want a photo that is not blocked by a vehicle in order to get a full unobstructed view. This is not always possible, but if you can park out of the view of the camera.
