Sometimes little (but very important) details are forgotten when getting ready to go out on storm. But these can make all the difference in the world as to how smoothly things go for you the adjuster.
So don't overlook them...
For example: Your mail at home...particularly your bills. If you can have someone at home handle this for you while you are out on storm, great. But if not, you will need to think about how you will keep up with the home bills while you're away working.
One possibility is to call about the bills you know come like clockwork every month, such as utilities, phone, cable, etc. and see if you can get on an automatic debit from your checking account.
Or many banks now offer an online service to pay your bills. Before you go out it would be a good idea to write down all of your normal bills, the account numbers and the phone numbers to the customer service departments of each.
If you have dependable neighbors have them pick up your mail and keep an eye on your house.
Check the thermostat and set it at a temperature that will protect the inside but not run the bill up while you're gone.
