Re-inspections
For some new adjusters this word causes fear and trembling...but it shouldn't. If you understand the whys of something it makes it a little less scary.

When you work a storm event, it is a normal practice for the insurance carrier you are representing to do random re-inspections of the losses you have handled.

What these re-inspectors will be looking for is how well you identified the damages and how you addressed them in your estimate. They will be checking to see if the pricing was proper for the particular operations involved. Did you use the proper materials? (Replace with like kind and quality) How was your customer service, and how did you settle the claim.

Was it an onsite settlement? And if not, how long did it take you to settle the claim. On EVERY loss you inspect, you should inspect as if YOU EXPECT it to be re-inspected. This will always keep you in check and performing really well.

If you see something you're not sure of, call in the troop reinforcements. They're only a phone call away. These reinforcements are your field managers, and they are there to help you. That is their job.

Why are these re-inspections important to you?

Because your complete handling of the loss will be graded according to the guidelines of that particular carrier. This will affect how this company will view you as an adjuster and your future work with them.

If you get a re-inspection and a mistake was found, don't be afraid to ask questions, find out what you did wrong and don't get mad or angry. Learn from it, so that in the future you don't make the same mistakes again.

If you keep a positive attitude and are willing to take constructive criticism, you will find that the company will be more willing to work with you as you grow and evolve into a seasoned adjuster.
